STIRLING, SCOTLAND, UK - 21 JUNE 09 - The fashion world assembled on the glittering silver and tartan red carpet at Stirling Castle, Scotland as winners and special honours for the fourth annual Scottish Fashion Awards in association with Vogue.com, were unveiled at the now internationally recognised awards ceremony.
Glistening jewels, sophisticated clutches and sparkling timepieces, courtesy of Official Jeweller Swarovski, accessorised some of the fashion industries most influential names who jetted in from Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Milan and London for the occasion. Their first taste of Scotland set the tone for the event as BAA Glasgow, Scotland's international airport provided a VIP Dignitary meet and greet service to all guests. Normally reserved for royals and political figures, VIP's were fast tracked through security to waiting chauffeurs at the airport exit.
Graced with the presence of a host of celebrities including international fashion figures such as designer Graeme Black, supermodel Jade Parfitt, TV presenter / model Lisa Butcher, fashion icon Louise Roe, Michelle Mone, Jenni Falconer, Taggart's Blythe Duff, TV personality Nick Ede, punk diva Siouxsie Sioux and fashion icon Pam Hogg, it was the most elusive and sought after fashion invitation in the country. Fleets of Mercedes-Benz and the world's most exclusive luxury saloon's, the E-Class Coupe limousines chauffeured guests to the majestic castle which overlooks the City of Stirling.
'Catwalk Caledonia' paid homage to the incredible Scottish design talent in a series of fashion interludes featuring collections from an array of Scottish design talent including Christopher Kane, Graeme Black, Jonathon Saunders, Pringle of Scotland, Harris Tweed Hebrides, Graeme Armour, Louise Gray, Holly Fulton and Laura Lees to name but a few.
The awards substantiated the assertion that the nation has entered a new era where the words 'Fashion and 'Scotland' are no longer thought to be paradoxical but can now legitimately be quoted in the same line, suggesting a serious essence of cool. Scotland is having more than a 'fashion moment' given the selection of global fashion editors and figures that were in attendance.
The winners were selected by an exclusive judging panel made up of professionals from the worlds' leading fashion houses, the most renowned and respected fashion publications and leading figures in style.

The world's leading Scottish Power Pipe band provided a regal aspect to the proceedings as it piped in the VIP's from the castle's courtyard to the Gala Dinner. Prepared by 'Nick Nairn at Stirling Castle' where roast lamb, smoked salmon and Mansard Champagne, courtesy of Forth Wines, were served complete with surprise Scottish Fashion Awards cup cakes. Guests then headed to the seven hundred year old Chapel Royal, which was transformed into a night club. The aftershow party was a world away from the Chapel Royal's previous usages, including the venue for Mary Queen of Scot's coronation in 1543. Auchentoshan Whisky cocktails provided the 'Caledonistas' with a real taste of Scotland as they celebrated in style until the early hours.
Scottish Fashion Awards in association with Vogue.com silver tote bags were filled with an exclusive selection of goodies worth over £100 for each guest, including products from Toni&Guy, Warehouse, Mercedes-Benz, Arran Aromatics, M&S, Fake Bake, Mac Cosmetics and of course Tunnocks Caramel Wafers - Scotland's biggest selling chocolate biscuit!
In line with high profile fashion events, the luxury 5 star Hotel Du Vin properties and the castle undertook a military-like operations throughout the day as suites and dungeons were converted into official 'Green Rooms' for celebrities and VIP's by top creative talents from Toni&Guy and Mac.
Tessa Hartmann, Founder and Producer of the event said: "I have heard it said that the Scot's don't have enough fashion talent to sustain an event like this each year - looking at the impressive line up of new and established names this evening, I think they must feel rather silly now! I am truly grateful to all the high profile brands that sponsored the event, despite the economic climate. This isn't just about Scottish Fashion, it's about celebrating a 'Fashionable Scotland' and we will do just that!"
