ABOUT

The Scottish Fashion Awards have partnered with leading high street fashion retailer Warehouse and leading tabloid The Daily Record to search for Scotland’s New Face, the competition is now in it’s second year and has just crowned Christina Chalk as Scotland’s New Face 2009. The scouts were out looking for fresh Scottish faces from across Scotland and around the world to compete in this exciting new competition. Over the past few months, we travelled around Scotland with a Daily Record photographer snapping at potential hopefuls in Warehouse stores in Scotland. From an eventual short list of twenty new faces, four finalists received the chance to model at the glittering Scottish Fashion Awards 2009 event at Stirling Castle on 21st June. Christina was announced as the winner on the night at Scotland’s premier celebration of fashion and style in front of fashion royalty and was crowned ‘Scotland’s New Face 2009’. Her prizes included £1000 to spend at Warehouse and a piece of jewellery from Swarovski, Official Jeweller to The Scottish Fashion Awards. Treasured by the global design community and by Swarovski’s own creative team, crystal has become an essential, dynamic ingredient of catwalk glamour, lighting up every corner of the international fashion arena, a wonderful addition to the winner’s prize package. She also received a style make over from top creative directors at Toni & Guy at one of their Scottish salons for one year (this equates to x6 cut and colour appointments), plus celebrities’ favourite tanning product ‘Fake Bake’ product for one year! Christina will work with Scotland’s top creative & fashion team to produce a portrait for her portfolio. Leading fashion snapper Stephen Kearney, professional make-up artists from MAC Cosmetics and experts from award winning fashion PR consultancy Hartmann Media will work together on a wonderful portrait exclusively for her. The four finalists each received a fabulous Nokia 6600 fold mobile phone. This super sleek new mobile phone in either black, purple or ocean blue is so slim it fits into the palm of your hand and comes with an Organic LED display for brighter, crisper images and videos!

Lorraine Pringle, Marketing & PR Director of Warehouse said: “Warehouse is thrilled to be partnering Scotland’s New Face for its second year. The decision last year was extremely hard, proving there’s a wealth of Scottish modelling talent out there and we can’t wait for the buzz and excitement all over again - there was fantastic synergy between Warehouse and Scotland’s New Face.

You don’t have to live in Scotland to enter but you must be Scottish by birth. So if you are Scottish and live in Glasgow, Stirling, New York or Paris you are in with a chance of becoming Scotland’s New Face.
