After taking to the catwalk at the third annual Scottish Fashion Awards held at Stirling Castle on 29th June, 16 year old Leanne Jeffrey was crowned 'Scotland's New Face 2008'. The 5' 11" novice beat hundreds of girls from across Scotland in one of the most exciting model competitions Scotland has ever witnessed. With her natural manner and statuesque height, Leanne had an air of confidence that simply set her apart. Top photographer and judge Stephen Kearney said: "Leanne is extremely photogenic. At this stage she is still quite unaware of her potential and such naivety is rare and compelling for a photographer."

Leanne will receive £1000 to spend at Warehouse, amongst her other prizes which include a portfolio shot from a renowned creative team, jewellery from Eric N Smith and management from top publicity agency TFF. Tessa Hartmann said: "The competition was extremely high and I have no doubt that the profile for all the finalists will have stood each contestant in good stead - literally everyone was talking about it on Scotland, from the radio stations to TV stations. Leanne did win by a majority vote and I think her potential is phenomenal. She is about to start college in September and we will build up her portfolio in good time. What is exciting is that we have already had interest from some international model agencies so as they say - 'watch this space'.

Well, after weeks of scouting across the land, registration is about to close (18th June) in the most exciting modeling competition Scotland has ever witnessed. Having received literally hundreds of entries, we have been amazed by the standard, proving that Scotland does have some of the most refreshing and interesting faces in the United Kingdom. We put some of our would be 'New Faces' to the test in from our photographer and team of experts, to see how they would fair. The results are interesting and dare we say exciting. The judges were looking for girls who have a quiet confidence and the ability to take instruction. Girls who had the ability to change shape and expression, provoking a variety of emotions for the camera. After pouring over the images and on line entries, our judges have almost finished their deliberations with the top 20 New Faces being published in the Daily Record and on line at end of this week (20th June). From there we will select a shortlist 4 finalists. These four very lucky young ladies will have the chance to model at the Scotland ’s biggest fashion event of the year, the glittering Scottish Fashion Awards 2008 at Stirling Castle on 29th June. The overall winner will be announced on the night at Scotland’s premier fashion and style event in front of leading figures from the world’s of fashion and design and will be crowned ‘Scotland’s New Face 2008’. The waiting is almost over, the shortlist will be reveiled very soon!
